SPS 2000 Care

Care

Dirty parts such as nylon webbed straps can be washed in warm water with a mild liquid dishwashing soap. Remove nylon parts from the belt body/harness "D" ring or from the Gripper "D" rings. Once cleaned and dried, reinstall at the appropriate locations.

Maintenance

In addition to daily inspections, regular monthly inspections of components should be conducted. Any worn or damaged parts must be replaced.

Storage

When not in use, the SPS 2000 PoleShark should be stored in a warm, dry location. If the SPS 2000 PoleShark becomes damp, place the unit in an open dry area where it can dry out. Once the SPS 2000 is dried, store in warm dry location.

3000 PoleShark Maintenance

1. Like other fall protection equipment, the 3000 PoleShark should be removed from service and destroyed if it has actually arrested a fall.

2. Gaff wheels need very little sharpening under normal use and care, but if they do become dull, they must be sharpened with a file or stone. Care should be taken to ensure that the tip retains its original shape.

3. Gaff wheels should be replaced if the teeth are sharpened down more than 1/8" from their original size.

4. Gaff wheels should also be replaced if they are bent or damaged or if the teeth become chipped.

5. If the lanyard becomes worn, orange indicator threads will begin to show through. Replace the lanyard immediately.

6. The bearings are self-lubricating and therefore do not require lubrication.

7. The PoleShark may be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not apply any cleaners or solvents.
